A few examples of what I have done and
can do:
-
At the very beginning of Desktop
Computing technology I assumed responsibility for the acquisition of new
desktop hardware and software for a fortune 100 company. I
established budgets, approval procedures, product lines, procurement
process and support services. This resulted in significant savings
through cost management, volume pricing, hardware / software
compatibilities and unification of services.
-
What began as contract to
provide recruiting sourcing support for an international mining company
soon turned into a full time recruiting effort . by the second year of
contracting I was recruiting and processing 7 hires a month in the Mining
Business Unit, managing 3 technical engineering recruiters nation wide for
multiple engineering disciplines, and participating as a member of the
corporate staffing and planning efforts.
-
When technical communications
problems interrupted security management for a large corporate office
complex I was asked to get the problem resolved The issues were
resolved by directly engaging multiple vendors of the systems
components and holding them accountable. I directed them to
correct the conflicts in the service agreement and
develop an integrated solution to the problem. Communication outage
incidents were completely eliminated with the new solution. The
security management of the 4500 employee complex was reestablished.
-
The outsourcing contract between IBM and
Public Service of Colorado (Xcel Energies) was over 18 months
underway when I took responsibility of the group supporting the
Local Area Network mid-range computer systems. After
reviewing the engagement agreement I found discrepancies and poor
business practices. I took action to work with the client and
vendors to resolve these which resulted in increased revenues for
contracted services, increased billings for incidental project work,
eliminated penalties for late payments to vendors, and greatly improved
client relationship.
-
I was asked senior management to
relocate from Chicago area to Denver to take over the design and
implementation of a very large computer communication system of a
major office relocations. By applying project management
disciplines, and working closely with Network Engineering groups,
Facilities Management, Procurement and many vendors the project was
completed ahead of schedule. My team and I received Awards of
Merit for our efforts.
Most of my career has been in daily
operations management of technical teams but there are a number of other
accomplishments that I would be happy to discuss.
